FAQs

I hope you find answers to all your questions here.  If there’s anything else you want to know, please feel free to contact me.

What does the assessment involve?

Normally I conduct a holistic, comprehensive assessment which will record personal details such as date of birth, past medical history, current diagnosis, and any medications etc.  It identifies what your problem is and assesses joint range of movement, strength and functional ability.  I also normally ask questions about your home to see if you have equipment, you may need and to consider various safety aspects. If you have a neurological condition, I will conduct various other tests to get a full picture of how your condition affects you.

Occasionally clients request very specific help, and, in these cases, it is not always necessary to complete such a thorough assessment.

At the end of the assessment, we will discuss your physiotherapy goals, and I can then advise on how best to achieve them and suggest a treatment plan.

This all depends on what you need and want.  Some people only require a few further sessions to resolve an issue or give them the tools to continue their rehabilitation independently.  Others need more intensive therapy and have one or more regular weekly sessions for a number of weeks or months. Some clients have one session every month or six weeks.  I usually suggest a review after a few sessions.  You can change your mind at any time.

All sessions are carried out at the client’s home or care / nursing home.
